Dr. Dunn Comments on the President’s Executive Order Promoting Agriculture

Task Force to Review Challenges to American Agriculture and Rural Communities

Apr 25 2017

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Dr. Neal Dunn (FL-02) applauded President Trump’s Executive Order to boost American agriculture and rural communities.

The President’s Executive Order creates a new inter-agency task force led by Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue. The task force will conduct a review of laws, policies and regulations that hinder America’s agriculture economy and rural communities. The order also abolishes President Obama’s Rural Council.

“Farmers and ranchers in the Second District are an integral part of our economy. The creation of the task force demonstrates President Trump’s commitment to our rural communities,” said Dr. Dunn. “The task force’s work can’t come soon enough, and I look forward to reviewing any recommendations that require congressional action.”

In addition, President Trump hosted a roundtable discussion today with 15 farmers and ranchers from around the country, including Lynetta Griner, Florida’s 2013 Woman of the Year in Agriculture and the first female president of the Florida Forestry Association. Ms. Griner owns and operates Usher Land and Timber Inc. in Levy County, specializing in timber and cattle production.

“Lynetta is a champion for Florida agriculture, and President Trump will benefit from her wise counsel,” added Dr. Dunn. “I am looking forward to working with President Trump and our new Secretary of Agriculture, Sonny Perdue, to ensure that our farmers, ranchers, and foresters are supported.”
