WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Neal Dunn (Florida-02) released the following statement after introducing an amendment to FY2025 Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act, which would prohibit the transfer of funds from Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to support the Shelter and Service Program (SSP) activities. The SSP program uses FEMA dollars to provide financial support to non-federal entities to help them provide humanitarian services to illegal immigrants.

“Congress allocates money to CBP to secure our border and protect American lives, not to provide housing for illegal immigrants,” said Congressman Dunn. “The Biden administration has used every dirty trick in the book to keep our border open and encourage more illegal immigration. We must close this crucial loophole to prevent the Administration from using this money to provide more taxpayer-funded services for illegal immigrants. I’d like to thank Congresswoman Malliotakis for joining me in introducing this amendment, and I look forward to it being included in the full bill.”
