U.S. Rep. Neal Dunn, R-Fla., will continue to focus on China as he takes a spot on a new committee.
This week, Dunn announced he was named to the U.S. House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition between the U.S. and the Chinese Communist Party.
The new committee “will assess the myriad military, economic and technological challenges posed by Communist China” and is led by U.S. Rep. Mike Gallagher, R-Wisc.
“China is a foreign agitator and a serious threat to the United States and our allies. Overreliance on imported medical supplies from China compromises national security, the stability of our healthcare system, and the security of our nation overall,” said Dunn. “Biden administration policies have only liberated and emboldened China. Speaker McCarthy is correct: the danger posed by our dependence on China is dire. I’m honored to be appointed to the China Select Committee in addition to my role on the House Energy and Commerce Committee. I look forward to working with my colleagues to hold the CCP accountable.”
Dunn had been a member of the Republican China Task Force which his office noted was “designed to probe the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) coverup of the origins of COVID-19, explain how to protect our supply chains, and ensure adequate resources for our military and diplomats.”
Representing parts of the Panhandle and the Big Bend, Dunn was first elected to Congress back in 2016.
