TALLAHASSEE, FL – Congressman Neal Dunn, M.D. (Florida-02) released the following statement regarding the College Football Playoff (CFP) Selection Committee’s exclusion of Florida State University (FSU) from the College Football Playoff.

“College football failed Florida State University. It’s a shame that an undefeated team, who earned every bit of their perfect season, won’t even get a shot in the College Football Playoffs. What does college football have against Florida State and Tallahassee?” said Congressman Dunn. “Make no mistake, Florida’s Second Congressional District knows our Seminoles are champions even if the selection committee fails to recognize that they earned a chance to prove it.”

The Florida State Seminoles finished the 2023 season undefeated with a 13-0 record and an ACC Championship title. The Seminoles were unfairly judged by the untimely injury of Quarterback Jordan Travis.

This is not the first time Congressman Dunn has criticized the treatment of Florida State by college football power brokers. Earlier this year, the NCAA blocked Jackson from playing football with the Seminoles after he transferred to FSU to be closer to his ailing mother. Congressman Dunn sent a letter to NCAA President Charlie Baker urging him to reconsider Darrell’s waiver so he could play with FSU.
