Shumaker Advisors’ Alan Suskey is taking on another volunteer role to give back to the U.S. military by helping to select its future leaders.
U.S. Rep. Neal Dunn selected Alan to serve on his Military Academy Selection Committee. In this position, Alan will help decide which Florida students can attend the nation’s military service academies, a highly competitive process.
There are five service academies: U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York; U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland; U.S. Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs; U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, New York; and U.S. Coast Guard Academy at New London, Connecticut.
“Alan is a Veteran himself, and he knows firsthand the importance of having great leadership to defend against our nation’s greatest challenges,” U.S. Rep. Neal Dunn said. “We are grateful to have Alan on board as we select the next generation of military officers focused on protecting our country and the freedoms we all enjoy.”
This is Alan’s second appointment this year to serve on military-related, volunteer initiatives. In July, Florida House of Representatives Speaker Chris Sprowls appointed him to the Veterans Florida Board, a nonprofit focused on helping Veterans transition into the workforce.
