Congressman Dunn Votes to Protect Women and Girl's Sports

Today, Congressman Neal Dunn (Florida-02) released the following statement after voting in favor of H.J.Res 165, a Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution that would stop the Biden administration from erasing vital Title IX protections for women and girls in school and sports. If passed, the resolution would overturn a Department of Education final rule entitled “Nondiscrimination on the Basis of Sex in Education Programs or Activities Receiving Federal Financial Assistance” that would rewrite Title IX to redefine “sex” to include gender identity.

“The Biden administration is doing everything in its power to force radical gender ideology onto American students and destroy decades of progress for women in sports,” said Congressman Dunn. “Title IX is meant to give women the opportunity to compete, not strip it away. As a physician, I am deeply disturbed that the Administration would ignore basic biological facts to promote its fringe views on gender. We must reject the Left’s radical gender ideology and ensure that the next generation of women has an opportunity to safely learn, compete, and grow on the field and in the classroom.”

In July 2022, Biden’s Department of Education released a final Title IX rule that would remove female-only spaces such as locker rooms, bathrooms, and other areas while allowing biological males to compete in women’s sports. This resolution, sponsored by Rep. Mary Miller (IL-15), will stop the Administration’s final rule to preserve female-only spaces on campus and give women and girls an even playing field in athletics.
