PANAMA CITY, FL – The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) recently announced an $11,250,000 grant for the expansion of Port Panama City. This has been a prioritized project of Congressman Neal Dunn, M.D., who represents Florida’s 2nd Congressional District.

“This grant funding for Port Panama City is outstanding news for Florida’s Second Congressional District! The PCPA is Northwest Florida’s primary port that supports over 11,000 jobs in the Panhandle,” said Congressman Dunn. “I worked with PCPA to secure this award, which will allow the port to expand cargo handling capacity at its East Terminal and create over 300 jobs and millions of dollars in revenue. I’m looking forward to the great things to come from Port Panama City, and I stand ready to help boost our local economy in any way possible.”

The DOT grant funding will be awarded from the FY23 Port Infrastructure Development Program, a discretionary grant program aimed at improving the safety, efficiency, or reliability of the movement of goods into, out of, around, or within a port.

The Port Panama City Expansion Project includes the construction of a 200,000-square-foot warehouse facility to handle the growth of forest product imports and exports, along with associated rail spur extension, and terminal roadway improvements to serve the warehouse.
