Congressman Dunn Votes to Sanction the International Criminal Court for Violating American Sovereignty
Jun 04 2024
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Neal Dunn (Florida-02) released the following statement after voting in favor of H.R. 8282, the Illegitimate Court Counteraction Act, which would impose sanctions on the International Criminal Court (ICC) for engaging in any effort to investigate, arrest, detain, or prosecute American officials or those of our allies.
“Recent attempts by the ICC to target America’s allies demonstrate that we must reassert the supremacy of American institutions and show the international community that we will stand by our allies,” said Congressman Dunn. “International law does not supersede the Constitution. The Trump administration was right to impose sanctions on the ICC and its associates if they target American servicemembers, diplomats, or our allies. I am proud to vote in favor of restoring President Trump’s agenda and defend our allies from illegitimate prosecution.”
