Washington, DC  – Today, Congressman Neal Dunn (Florida-02) introduced the 10th Amendment Restoration Act, which would establish a Constitutional Government Review Commission that is charged with improving government transparency and efficiency. This legislation would provide formal congressional authorization to President Trump to eliminate unlawful powers exercised by federal agencies.

“President Trump was elected with a clear mandate to fight the ever-growing influence of the federal bureaucracy and hold federal agencies accountable for going beyond the scope of their power as outlined in the Constitution,” said Congressman Dunn. “To that end, the President-elect has organized the Department of Government Efficiency to review every federal agency to eliminate wasteful, duplicative, and unlawful practices. This bill will provide a clear process to rein in and, when necessary, eliminate federal agencies that abuse their power.

“The 10th Amendment Restoration Act will give the Trump Administration congressional authorization to conduct its activities to reform the federal government and ensure that all federal agencies are operating within the bounds of the Constitution. This legislation will allow the Trump Administration to begin evaluating government efficiency on the day he takes office and avoid any delay in implementing his reforms.”

In addition to establishing a Constitutional Government Review Commission, this legislation would also allow that Commission to recommend if a federal agency should have its powers restricted or if the agency should be repealed entirely. The Commission’s recommendation would receive expedited floor consideration in both chambers of Congress to allow for quick implementation of the Commission’s recommendations. The Commission would also make recommendations for redistributing the funds from shuttered federal agencies.
