WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Neal Dunn, M.D. (Florida-02) recently re-introduced The Connecting Communities Post Disasters Act (H.R. 3301), a bill that would accelerate replacing and improving communications facilities in Presidentially-declared disaster areas.
“There are few things worse than being unable to check on loved ones following a disaster. One of my biggest takeaways from Hurricane Michael is that burdensome regulations stand in the way of rebuilding our communities,” said Congressman Dunn. “The Connecting Communities Post Disaster Act simplifies the rebuilding process so we can quickly get our communities back on their feet and back to a sense of normalcy.”
During the 117th Congress, the House Energy and Commerce Committee included Congressman Dunn’s Connecting Communities Post Disasters Act in a comprehensive package of 28 bills that aimed to turbocharge public and private investment by promoting new and upgraded infrastructure deployments, boosting competition, streamlining permitting processes, facilitating broadband deployment on federal lands, and closing the digital divide in both rural and urban areas.
