Press Releases
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Neal Dunn, M.D. (Florida-02) released the following statement after the House of Representatives passed the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2024 (H.R. 2670).
“Today I voted to support our U.S. Military. I consider myself incredibly fortunate to represent a district where thousands have dedicated their lives to protecting our great nation. The Senate has done Americans a disservice by deceptively including a FISA extension in the FY24 NDAA. Allowing the Department of Justice and the FBI to illegally spy on U.S. Citizens is unconstitutional and unfair to Americans!
We must always take care of our service members, and we must quit passing these large bills at the eleventh hour that are packed full of hidden provisions that trample on our rights. I demand a new FISA in April with guardrails that will prevent bad actors like the DOJ and FBI from persecuting Americans by illegally using this program for corrupt motives.”
Background:
The House of Representatives passed H.R. 2670 with a 310-118 vote. The package includes multiple wins for the military and Florida’s Second Congressional District, including provisions to support a 5.2% increase in servicemember basic pay, protect current servicemembers and provide a path back to service for the 8,000 servicemembers discharged for not taking the COVID-19 vaccine, and fully funds the deployment of National Guard troops in support of Border Patrol activities at the southwest border.
